North Carolina is home to a number of military bases which serve over 110,000 active-duty military personnel. The largest N.C. base is Fort Bragg, which is also the largest U.S. Army base by population. Fort Bragg serves over 52,000 active duty soldiers, about 8,500 civilian employees, 3,500 contractors, and nearly 63,000 active duty family members.
